For years I struggled. I had started an idea as a teenager and had gotten pretty far with it. However, after high school, life demands caused me to leave my writing on the back burner for several years.
I would occasionally open that story, scroll through, feel unclear on what to do, leave it alone...
I would have some ideas but then go back and forth about how to even express them in the story...
I would erase, move things around, then get stuck and give up...
I was frustrated and finally, one day, like a sucker punch to the gut I had the burning need to finish my book.
I realized I had been going about it completely wrong and also caving in to the whims of writer's block!
As a mom, working as a restaurant manager was definitely not what I wanted for the rest of my life, so I knew I needed to go all in with my writing.
I made a game plan, jumped in full force, and was consistently working on my book.
